The Spanish have as great a love affair with horses as the British, particularly in rural areas where the horse has always been part of the way of life. The are many riding centres and we are in the process of making arrangements with one nearby. Look for adverts in the English language newspapers or enquire at "The Sandwich Bar" down the hill from the house. Here's a list of some around the Malaga province.

A small and friendly family run riding school in Churriana (back towards the airport) where the emphasis is on safety and fun. Tel: 952 96 05 43.

La Almuna

This sounds expensive but probably worth it if you like doing this sort of thing - organised excursions through orchard groves to campo and beyond with Briton Diana Paget and her mother, also famous for their superb home cooking on their terrace overlooking valley. Valderrama Equestrian Centre
In the hills just above Sotogrande, professional tuition in dressage, jumping and competition preparation. Lessons from beginners upwards with BHSAI and escorted hacks in delightful countryside. Livery service available.
